Community Reinvestment Act

The federal government established the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) in 1977 to encourage banks to meet the credit needs of the communities where they do business, including low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. Banks must also make their CRA files available to the public through their website and update the files to be current as of April 1 of each year.
